AHH. THE TRUMPET

Well, for those of you who don't know, I am a trumpet player. I have my bachelors and masters degrees in trumpet performance actually. I still do play professionally with the Dodworth Saxhorn band (http://www.dodworth.org/), I am the manager for cushion concerts through the International Symphony Association ( I used to play the concerts as well, but with homeschooling and 3 kiddos, daytime concerts stopped working), and I am thinking of starting to teach privately again. In all my free time of course! Anyhow, I finally let everything go for a while today and put the bulk of the grant I needed to write together. It feels good to do something like that. The deadline has been looming and the time each day seems to slip away.

Anyhow, I was just thinking about my life. You know it sure doesn't look like what I had planned at all. My plan was to get an orchestra job, maybe teach college. Kids.....hmmmm...maybe 1 ! Well, God had some different plans for me. Now don't get me wrong. I very much enjoy having 3 kids, being a wife, teaching school to my kids, going to gymnastics, piano lessons, field trips, etc. Actually, the dedication I have to those things is a testimony to how God can change a person....completly. My only struggle is, as a good friend puts it, the feminist inside me! Yes, she still resides there somewhere, deep down....and every once in a while she fights her way through, and quite honestly she does nothing but discourage, not lift up. You know I am a great trumpet player, and who knows, maybe I will have that full time music career someday, but now God has a plan for me to be in the home, with my children, my family, and that is okay. Actually, it's even more than okay. And, the trumpet isn't going anywhere. She is still there in the music room. Life brings different seasons doesn't it? Sometimes I just need a reminder.

Jeremiah 29:11 (New Living Translation)
11 For I know the plans I have
for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

See, there you go! He's got it covered!

What you are doing now, in your marriage & with your awesome daughters, the "feminist-inside" just can't argue with (at least, not intelligibly).

Yet God also have you some amazing talent - and I know He wants you to use that too! Just embrace this time, this season! I can't wait to actually hear you perform - how can I have been your friend this long and not have heard you perform? (well, I guess I've heard you at church....once...barely)
